Logan Scot Mangum

This sweet baby joined our family on December 29, 2009 at 7:56am.
7 lbs. 10 oz. and 20 inches long

I rang in 2010 alone, in a hospital room, two units of someone else's blood running through my veins, and drugged up on painkillers and sleeping pills. My sweet new baby was down the hall in the nursery being treated for mild jaundice. I sent Aaron and my mom home with Calyn so everyone could get a good night's rest. It was actually the best night I spent in the hospital. I just made a mental note that I had never been alone on New Year's Eve. But, the next day, on the first day of the new year, we brought home our new baby, little Logan.

I was a little worried that Calyn would be jealous of Logan, but as she likes to constantly prove me wrong, she adores him. She even gave him her silky and blanket. For those of you who know Calyn, you know how very big that little gesture was. She is very protective of him. In fact, when we told her that he was her brother, she replied "Oh he's mine? Thank you!"

Going home...finally.

Merry Christmas!

Santa was good to her...maybe too good

I decided to unload my camera for the arrival of Logan, and that led to getting one more set of posts up before my life changes again forever.

Just wanted to show you my belly dragging on the floor. My Christmas was complete when Aaron gave me a sweet electric purple Ipod nano! It was inside an Irish Spring soap box. At least it wasn't buried in a trash can like some presents have been in the past.

Santa was so busy that he dropped off Calyn's kitchen set unassembled. The nerve. Litros and Aaron told him they would be his helpers this year. Those two had a lot of fun putting that thing together. Let's just say they didn't hesitate pulling out the drill.

Hangin' on by a thread

So, I turned 29 on the 14th of this month. That morning when Aaron wished me a happy birthday I said, "At least I'm still in my 20s." Aaron lovingly replied, "Yeah, but you're hanging on by a thread."

It ended up being a really good day. Calyn sang "happy birthday" to me all day, Aaron sent flowers to the house (I didn't even feel like I HAD to rearrange them:), we went out to lunch AND dinner (no kitchen clean up) and drove around looking at Christmas lights. Twenty-nine ain't that bad.

30 minutes flat

That's how long it took us from the time we left our house to the time we arrived back home with our 2009 Christmas tree. There are certain advantages to living in a small town:)

"Hmmmm...what tree do I want?"

I'm dreaming of a White Christmas?

Two years in a row? Not unheard of for us to get snow, but very, very rare. So we bundled up and headed out for Snow Day 2009. I'm seriously doubting this whole "global warming" junk.

Natchitoches Christmas Festival

This past Saturday we went to Natchtoches for its annual Christmas Festival and fireworks/laser show. Our good friends, the Gouldings, invited us along. I was hesitant to go being large with child and knowing there would be a good amount of walking. But I'm really glad we tagged along. We stuffed our faces with meat pies, funnel cakes, jambalaya, and fried alligator on a stick.

I think he's got a mouthful of funnel cake in this pic:)
P.S. It was flippin' COLD! It was seriously around 30 degrees.

We're Back! But not for long.

We finally got a new laptop. Now I can blog with ease. Except, I'm too dang tired to blog. I'll try to keep you updated with our Christmas festivities, but I can't promise you anything since we'll be having Little Log Dog shortly after Christmas. You'll DEFINITELY get an update when he arrives. For now, enjoy the zillion new posts below!

The Original Plan...

...was that Calyn's Halloween costume would be a pirate. She would NOT wear the black and white striped dress I made her. She liked the tights and bodysuit, so we taped a skull and cross bones on her chest to give some hint of pirate-ness. Needless to say, she ended up being a princess (see post below).

And Bella was the cutest little lamb I've ever seen!
